The sequel to the legendary Season Of Da Siccness will be released late 2022 and to celebrate, Brotha Lynch Hung is releasing a very limited blood splattered vinyl edition of his classic second album Season Of Da Siccness for RSD Black Friday.
While his debut felt like the work a lone visionary, Season of Da Siccness heralds a movement. Lynch is backed by several of his Sacramento cronies, and his burgeoning posse was rewarded when the album reached #13 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Whereas 24 Deep relied heavily on vintage samples, Season of Da Siccness focuses on a self-made vision of funk. “Sicc-Made,” “Rest in P**s” and “Liquor Sicc” embody a slow-moving concoction of hissing synths, groaning bass, and shards of piano. The sound design is a total representation of Lynch’s themes: nausea, psychosis, and claustrophobia. In turn, the imagery has become even more grotesque. Though Lynch’s songs grow out of everyday tales of ghetto living, his narratives are infested with disturbing, almost surrealistic imagery: baby spines, floating entrails, and caskets full of purple marijuana smoke. Lynch’s art is so image-oriented that he functions more like a painter than a songwriter. The highlight might be “Welcome 2 Your Own Death,” which creeps along on top of a growling subterranean bass tone worthy of John Carpenter.

Since he was the legendary wild man of the Kinks -- the man responsible for their proto-heavy metal guitars, the battling brother of Ray -- it's been easy to pigeonhole Dave Davies as just a hard rocker but anybody who paid close attention to his solo work would know that he has a spiritual, even mystical, dimension to his music which shines through clearly on this classic Dave Davies album.
Originally released in 2007, Fractured Mindz was Dave’s first release after a stroke several years earlier -- a musical journey with The Kinks' guitarist with stops for fame and fortune, sibling rivalry and stroke recovery. First time on vinyl! 2XLP with etching on 4th side.

In 1992, Dave Davies and Gerry Goffin wrote "21st Century" together at a coffee shop in Los Angeles. It is a song about the then-upcoming new millennium, but eerily, the lyrics could have been written today. This RSD Black Friday 7” single pairs a demo of “21st Century” with “Web of Time, a B-side from Davies’ 2018 album Decade.

Thanks to Foo Fighter Dave Grohl and friends, DREAM WIDOW lives.
DREAM WIDOW is the malevolent creation of Dave Grohl (handling vocals, guitar, bass and drums) and lead guitarist Jim Rota of Fireball Ministry renown. Assisted on a few tracks by keyboardists Rami Jaffee and Oliver Roman, Grohl and Rota make good on the sinister promise to blur the lines between reality and darkest fantasy.
The name and mythos of DREAM WIDOW will be familiar to those who’ve laughed and screamed watching Foo Fighters’ horror-comedy feature film, STUDIO 666. In the film, Foo Fighters attempt to record their newest album in the same house where the legendary — and fictional — DREAM WIDOW met its tragic and untimely end — with hilariously horrifying consequences.

They are rap’s first great duo, one that excelled as rappers and producers. They are among the most-sampled rap acts of all time, their tunes having been mined by Jay-Z, DMX, 2Pac and Tha Alkaholiks, among many others. They introduced funk-styled production to rap, paving the way for Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. And even though their own rap skill was immense, they are also the best talent scouts in rap history, introducing the likes of Redman, Das EFX and Keith Murray. Then they broke up and reunited to rave reviews. The group is EPMD, undisputed legends in the rap game.
Celebrating their rich history, RBC Records releases an exclusive limited edition version of their highly respected reunion album We Mean Business, their first album on their own EP Records and their seventh overall.
“All of our albums have Business in the title,” Smith explains. “Now that we’re in a new era and the game is changed, we realize that it’s different from when we handed in a CD to our first label to being at Def Jam. Erick and I created our own vehicle to be able to drop this album. That’s how we came with the title We Mean Business, because we do.”
EPMD updates its classic sound and sentiment on “Listen Up,” a funk-drenched song complete with a talk box and featuring the one and only Mr. Teddy Riley. Recognizing EPMD’s status as pioneers, Sermon acknowledges how important his lyrics are: “Can’t talk ignorant/I got some intelligent folks that’s digging it.”
Those same folks will be digging We Mean Business song “Roc Da Spot,” a throwback of sorts to “You Gots To Chill,” one of 1988’s most acclaimed rap singles. “The beat had that EPMD sound, as far as the claps,” Sermon says. “It had a familiarity to it because of the sound and, 20 years later, we’ve still got that funk coming.”
“It’s very important for us to stay us,” Smith adds. “People want to hear and see EPMD.” That’s because We Mean Business isn’t just an album title for EPMD. It’s a mindstat

A recording of the singer/songwriter's show from a July 8, 2000, performance at the famed New York showcase club. Released in 1974, Aqua is the first solo album by Tangerine Dream's frontman Edgar Froese. It is known as his most influential release as his entire advance was invested in the acquisition and development of the then-unknown sequencers and modular synthesisers. “Aqua is a work of creation that has opened many doors to the sound exploration and to the parameters in a fusion between abstract and harmony". This release has been out of print on vinyl until now. This deluxe package includes a 2005 bonus track and new album art that has never been released on vinyl. Burning Desire is part of Dagger Records’ authorized Jimi Hendrix ‘bootleg’ releases. Mixed by Eddie Kramer, the collection presents compelling examples of Jimi’s remarkable creative explorations through 1969 and early 1970. In the shadow of Electric Ladyland, the original Jimi Hendrix Experience struggled to remain a cohesive unit and Jimi’s ceaseless creative pursuit would lead to experimental sessions with bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles and ambitious attempts to integrate fresh musical elements. On these studio recordings, Jimi can be heard developing exciting new material such as “Ezy Ryder,” “Cherokee Mist,” “Villanova Junction Blues,” “Izabella,” and “Burning Desire.” Burning Desire was originally released on CD via mail order only, seeing it’s only LP release on black vinyl as part of a previous RSD Black Friday event. The double LP will now be available for the first time since, pressed on Translucent Orange and Red vinyl by QRP as part of the new RSD Encores series revisiting popular releases from past Record Store Day and RSD Black Friday releases.

The sixth album from Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Bob Steeler) would become one of the hardest rocking album ever in the power trio’s large catalog of blues/rock projects over the last five decades. Released in 1975, Yellow Fever would become a fan favorite with tracks like Jimmy Reed's "Baby What You Want Me To Do" as well as plenty of hard blues rockers from Jorma Kaukonen like "Bar Room Crystal Ball" "Song For The Fire Maiden" and "Free Rein." This RSD Black Friday yellow vinyl version, the first vinyl edition since 1975, was mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso from the original Grunt Records tapes.

Etta Is Betta Than Evvah! was released in 1976, at a time when she wasn’t ruling the charts but wasn’t adverse to climbing back into the Top 40 either. Despite being one of Memphis’s most long-running, prolific and popular gospel groups, The Jubilee Hummingbirds’ story remains largely unwritten. Early members O.V. Wright and James Carr — both of whom crossed over into secular music while singing with The Jubilee Hummingbirds — have guaranteed their mention in soul circles, but for a group with such a presence in their home city, and a generous multi-label discography that began on wax in the mid-‘60s and continues to this day, the Hummingbirds are a living, breathing example of the ever-present yet invisible place that gospel music, by its very design, can occupy.
Their 1983 LP, Gospel Express, was just one chapter in the rich history of The Jubilee Hummingbirds, but a significant one that deserves a deep focus. They were a little over halfway through their eighty-four-years-and-counting history when these recordings were made and they’re still singing today, now under the leadership of William "Redd" Watson. In 1983, shortly after Watson joined the group the ‘Birds landed on Bishop Bobby King’s Gospel Express imprint. The vinyl-hustling enigma behind such street-level setups as Hub-City and Home-Boys, King was a ghetto gospel impresario who went by so many different names that much of his activity is still a mystery. King’s calling card was the cut-and-paste album cover, which was almost ahead of its time in its crudely-collaged aesthetic. Gospel Express is being given a second lease on life in this RSD Black Friday edition.

Jungle recently released the double A-side single “GOOD TIMES / PROBLEMZ” digitally to celebrate their robust 2022 tour, which includes stops with Billie Eilish in Europe, global festival appearances, as well as multiple arena shows with Gorillaz. “GOOD TIMES / PROBLEMS” will see its vinyl release first on RSD Black Friday, on classic black vinyl.

Havoc and Bright Lights marked a rebirth for Alanis Morissette, the first album she recorded as a newlywed mother. Delivered a full eight years later, Such Pretty Forks in the Road is the second act of the story, an album about learning how to find contentment at middle age. Morissette wrestles anxieties, origin stories, addictions, parenthood, and partnership throughout the record, searching for reasons and a diagnosis, achieving a sense of peace with having her sense of calm being disturbed on occasion. Appropriately for an album that's decidedly focused on an inward journey, Such Pretty Forks in the Road simmers, never boils. Hooks force themselves into the center stage on "Reasons I Drink" -- the rare tune here that could be called catchy -- but otherwise melody takes a back seat to mood. This doesn't necessarily mean Morissette's words are pushed into the spotlight. Such Pretty Forks in the Road is lacquered in immaculate gloss, a sound that accentuates the interior journey of the songs without quite inviting exploration. A close listen reveals all the troubles rolling around Morissette's mind, but the nice thing about Such Pretty Forks in the Road is how its smooth, placid surface makes the record feel like an album-length guided serenity meditation.
