What's New 11-3-23

Capitol Records

The last Beatles song, written and demoed by John Lennon in the mid/late 1970s, features elements from 1995 sessions including George Harrison’s guitar parts, and vocal and instrumental parts from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in 2022. The last song recorded by all four Beatles, a powerful and fitting finale for the band’s timeless recordings.

Third Man

With his new-age shoegaze, Will Anderson provides a gentle yet absorbing escape from the hypervigilance with which we patrol our own lives. Cartwheel’s songs are soft around the edges and wash over the listener in shades of sunset orange and pink, guitars morph and collapse in on themselves like the contents on a lava lamp.

New West Records

Feel Good is bold and ecstatic, built on tight, intoxicating grooves that belie the songs’ substantial emotional stakes. Wyatt’s writing is raw and intuitive here, tapping into the deep recesses of her subconscious as she reckons with grief and growth, and her delivery is visceral to match, cutting straight to the bone with equal parts sensitivity and swagger.
